I’m Claudia, the creator of this blog. I’m originally from Venezuela but I moved to the U.S. in 2010 to get my masters degree and pursue a career in advertising.
Living alone for the first time in a foreign country took a toll on my body. I began to binge in unhealthy foods that were never available to me while growing up. As a result I gained 16 pounds, my skin started to break out and turn dull and I was definitely not happy with the way I looked but, more importantly, with the way I felt.
In the summer of 2013 I got married, left my career in advertising and moved to Savannah, GA. I realized that I was the only one who could break my bad habits, so I did. I went back to my roots and started eating the healthy foods I grew up with. I cut back my alcohol and sugar intake and started making wiser decisions when eating out. I even became a Certified Health Coach!
Even though my eating habits were not the best for a period of time in my life, I’ve always been very passionate about endurance sports. I enjoy long distance running and triathlons… There’s something about pushing my body to its limits that brings me plenty amounts of joy.
In my early 20s I was diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) and a year ago I decided to stop taking conventional medicines to control it; of course, symptoms started to arise. Throughout the years I’ve experimented with different ways of eating to fuel my active lifestyle but it wasn’t until just recently, when I was exposed to the reality of slaughterhouses, that I decided to give plant-based eating a try. Surprisingly this lifestyle change has drastically improved the syndromes I was experiencing from my PCOS and I can say that by making smart choices I feel very energized and strong. I also have a dairy allergy so you won’t find any of it on my recipes.
Besides delicious plant-based recipes, in this space you'll also find some running, lifestyle and travel tips. I'm very interested in natural beauty, non-toxic living and all things eco-friendly!
